THE MINISTRIES OF ST. PAUL A.M.E. CHURCH-CANTON

 

Members of the Steward Board watch over the spiritual needs of the church.  The Stewards meet regularly with the Pastor.  They are responsible for maintaining the membership roll of the church and watching over its finances.

 

The Trustees are responsible for maintaining the property of the church.

 

The Stewardesses assist in preparing the implements and elements of Holy Communion and Baptism.  They also dress the pulpit with coverings for various liturgical seasons.

 

The Class Leaders Ministry keeps up with the members of the church and provide orientation for new members.  Class Leaders follow up with members when they are absent from church; and keep the church informed if any are sick, hospitalized, or experiencing spiritual or physical needs.

 

The Women’s Missionary Society ministers to the needs of people in our communities and our world.  The WMS sponsors activities whose end purpose is to foster missionary activities of the local church, area, and conference.

 

The Christian Education Department works with the Pastor to make sure that church members of all ages are provided opportunities for spiritual growth and development.  The ministry teaches, trains, nurtures, prepares, and recruits adults and children for Christian service through teaching of the Word.

  • Church School (Sunday School) – meets each Sunday at 9:30 AM to equip the saints through study of the bible. 
  • AWANA Club – meets each Wednesday from 6 - 7:30 PM (during the academic school year)
  • Intercessory Prayer - meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-7 PM
  • Vacation Bible School – meets annually for one week during the summer months (dates and times TBD)
  • Adult Bible Study – meets on Wednesdays from 7- 8PM
  • Teen Bible Study - meets on 4th Sundays from 5 - 7PM

 

The Y.P.D. (Young Peoples’ Department) trains young people for Christian service by providing opportunities for them to participate in the church.  St. Paul provides opportunities for children and teens to be involved in all aspects of church life through the Youth Choir, Sunday School, AWANA Club, Usher Board, Vacation Bible School, Children’s Church, Ladies of Christ Dance Ministry, and Kids for Christ Mime Ministry.  Additionally, we regularly plan and carry out programs geared specifically for young people including but not limited to field trips, Teen Lock-Ins, an Annual Fall Festival, Easter Egg Hunt, Back-to-School Supply Drives, and other events in which children and teens can participate.  We are a children friendly and teen friendly church.

 

The Sons of Allen encourages men to become involved in helping other men find Christ. 

 

The Usher Board greets people as they come into the church and makes sure that they are comfortable during the worship experience.

 

The Music Department – prepares and renders music for worship services and other programs and activities. 

  • The Senior Choir – renders music on 1st Sundays
  • The Male Choir – renders music on 2nd Sundays
  • The Gospel Choir – renders music on 3rd Sundays
  • The Youth Choir – renders music on 4th Sundays
  • The Combined Choir – renders music on 5th Sundays and during special events

 

The Lay Organization exists to instill in members a love and appreciation for the history, tradition and principles of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  All members of the church who are not ordained clergy are part of the Lay Organization.

 

The DVD Ministry ensures that services are videotaped and available for purchase for the purpose of evangelism and personal spiritual growth.

 

The Dance and Mime Ministry provides an opportunity for children and teens to worship creatively through the arts.

  • The Kids for Christ (KFC) ministers through the art of mime at select worship services and special events
  • The Ladies of Christ (LOC) ministers through the art of dance and liturgical movement at select worship services and special events

 

The Outreach Ministry goes out into the community once per month to offer people outside the walls of the church an opportunity to come one step closer to Christ by spreading the love of God, offering encouragement, praying for people, sharing the gospel, and inviting people to trust Jesus Christ and receive salvation.

 

The Divas of Destiny Women’s Ministry provides opportunities for women to minister to each other with regard to issues that affect the lives of females.  The ministry also encourages women to lead other women to Christ.

 

The Prayer Ministry prays for members in the church and community daily.  The ministry also goes out in the community weekly to the sick, shut-in, and downtrodden to pray for and encourage them.
